The Bourbon Glaze that Goes Great with Everything!

Bourbon whiskey, the quintessential American spirit, isn’t just for sipping and mixing. It’s also great for cooking. And one of the most versatile ways to use it, is as the base for a wonderfully tasty glaze. This recipe is easy to make, and enriches the flavor of pork, chicken, beef, salmon, venison, duck, roasted veggies…heck, just about anything.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup bourbon (doesn’t have to be the good stuff…cheap will do!)
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

Combine all ingredients into a sauce pan, and bring to a slow simmer over a medium heat, stirring regularly to prevent burning. Take your time and simmer until your glaze reduces to one-third of its original volume. You’ll end up with a thick, mouthwatering glaze that you can use just like barbeque sauce. Brush it onto your burgers, slather it onto your salmon, dip your hot dogs into it. Yum!
