Five Sloe Gin Favorites

Sloe gin is a liquer that is traditionally sipped neat, but that doesn’t mean you can’t experiment with this sweet, tart fruity concoction. Its combination of acidity, slight nuttiness and berry flavor makes sloe gin the perfect base for a summertime cocktail.

Here are five recipes that have developed an avid following.

Sloe Gin Fizz

Ingredients
1 oz sloe gin
1 oz gin
3/4 oz fresh lemon juice
1 oz simple syrup
3 - 4 oz soda water
Combine sloe gin, gin, lemon juice and simple syrup with ice into a shaker and shake. Strain into a highball glass, over ice. Top with soda. Garnish with a cherry and orange slice.

Alabama Slammer

Ingredients
½ oz amaretto
½ oz peach liqueur
½ oz sloe gin
Splash of orange juice
Splash of sweet & sour
Scoop ice into a shaker. Add all ingredients and shake until cold. Strain into an old-fashioned glass. Garnish with an orange wheel and cherry.

Hawaiian Volcano

Ingredients
2 oz vodka
2 oz peach liqueur
2 oz sloe gin
2 oz orange liqueur
2 oz orange juice
Combine all ingredients over ice into a shaker. Shake until cold. Strain into shot glasses. No garnish needed.

Big Stick

Ingredients
1/2 oz sloe gin
1/2 oz Southern Comfort
1/2 oz peach schnapps
Orange juice
Grenadine
Fill a tall glass with ice. Add sloe gin, Southern Comfort, peach schnapps. Fill near to the top with orange juice. Float grenadine on top.


A Slow Comfortable Screw Up Against The Wall

Ingredients
1 oz. Sloe Gin
1 oz. Southern Comfort
1 oz. Vodka
1 oz. Galliano
Orange Juice
Combine sloe gin, Southern Comfort, vodka and orange juice in a shaker over ice. Shake well, pour into a rocks glass, top with Galliano and garnish with a cherry.
