The Right Glass for the Aperitif

An aperitif is usually served before a meal to stimulate the appetite. This before-dinner drink may be big on flavor but is typically small in volume and is designed to be sipped and savored, or in some cases taken as a shot. In either case, use the glass that is appropriate for the drink. Here are some suggestions.

Shaken Campari Cocktail – Serve in a classic martini glass.

Aperol Spritz – Serve in a stemmed wine glass.

Sherry Cobbler Cocktail – Serve in a Collins glass.

Sweet Vermouth – Serve over ice in a rocks glass.

Ouzo – Serve in a tall Collins glass, diluted with cold water

Kir – Serve in a stemmed wine glass.

Sherry – Serve in a long-stemmed copita (if you can’t find a copita, use a champagne flute, and if you can’t find a champagne flute… well, just use a wine glass).
